Testimony:
I grew up in a very religious home where our Catholic faith was always felt. Since
that was all I had ever known, by the time I got into high school, it became a habit
and I just went through the motions. This past February helped me to see that this
was a problem in my life. Over Valentine's Day, my youth group and I led a retreat
weekend for the eighth graders in the church. The seniors in the group were asked
to give speeches about what it was like to live as a Catholic youth today and how we
can show our faith to others. As I started writing my speech, I realized everything
I put down made me sound like a hypocrite. How could I tell these kids to do this
and that to proclaim and glorify God when I didn't even do it myself? I knew what
to do, I just didn't do it like I should. So that was my speech, I told the eighth
graders how their weekend really helped me! By really reaching down inside me to
find out what I needed to say to these kids, I found what to say to me. So I am now
trying to properly live my life, only for God, and putting my life completely in His
hands. It is hard at times to let go of things, but I figure God knows what is good
for me and what I am to do in this life, so I am trying really hard to listen to God
and God alone and to always remember that everything happens for a reason.
