Question: How much of our emphasis on life should be on education?
Answer:
"For you have heard of my former manner of life in Judaism, how I used to persecute the chuch of God beyond measure, and tried to destroy it; and I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my countrymen, being more extremely zealous for my ancestral traditions." Galatians 1:13-14
Everything in Paul's life prior to Christ played a part in who He became as a vessel for the Lord. More than anything though... was his education and skill in historical traditions and law. He knew his stuff. When the Lord was "pleased to call him," Paul was more than ready, he had been prepared for that day since his birth.
So how important is education? Its phenomenally important. The problem with education is that it can be both a rise and a downfall. The more educated you become, the easier it is to become arrogant. The less educated you are, the more inclined you are to defend emotions over intellect. The more educated you are, the more humility becomes an effort. The cycle goes back and forth, but finding a balanced individual is not always easy.
So again... is education important? Absolutely. Can it be dangerous as well? Absolutely.
Where you will be challenged most in your education is not in the knowledge, but the wisdom of knowing when to use that knowledge. Getting input and being able to recite it is one aspect of education, but having the wisdom to use it in its time... that's the importance of education.
