The Fourth Crusade begins under the leadership of Pope Innocent III.

The Magna Carta is completed as a means to establish the powers extended and limited to the powers that be.

The Fifth Crusade begins upon a plan to retake the Holy Land during the Fourth Council of the Lateran.

The Sixth Crusade begins for the first time without the leadership of a pope or king.

During the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea, the printing presses of earlier asian technology were upgraded from clay to metal for movable type.


This would eventually be expanded by Johann Gutenberg (1447).

The Seventh Crusade begins under the direction of Louis IX.

1265



Dante Alighieri, one of the future "Fathers of the Renaissance" is born in Italy.

The Eighth Crusade begins under the direction of Louis IX.

The Ninth Crusade begins under the direction of Edward I of England.

Upon the conclusion of this ninth and generally accepted final crusade, the majority of Christian influence in Syria and the future Middle East is eroded. As such, the coming years would lead to a heavy Muslim presence in the region that would continue to the present day.
