The Byzantine Empire begins a period referred to as Iconoclastic. This age involves the destruction of religious icons and other symbols and monuments. One of the most interesting pieces removed was the practice of making an individual godfather to an infant for reasons of iconic praise.

Utrecht Psalter is an illustrated portion of Carolingian art and as such, provides a glimpse into early images surrounding each individual Psalm. This particular piece becomes the first to use rotary grindstone as a method of artistic creation both in language and design.

Vespasian Psalter becomes the longest lasting extant English translation of any Biblical text recorded.  It includes an Old English version of the Psalms along with the letters of Jerome.
